Project Description
Potter Park is a 37-acre park located within Palmer Ranch. The park offers a variety of recreational opportunities including walking trails, playground, basketball courts and tennis courts. The proposed improvements include the construction of six (6) lighted pickleball courts, fencing, shade structures, accessible pedestrian connections, and associated amenities. The proposed pickleball courts are to be located north of the existing tennis courts. |

Pickleball anyone? Pickleball courts are officially open! There continues to be a cleanup of the rest of the park after Hurricane Milton but people are enjoying the beautiful courts.
September 30, 2024
The new pickleball courts, fences, and lighting are complete. Shade structures are 90% done, and sidewalks are 95% finished with a few sections remaining. The new courts will open after the final inspection, hopefully in mid-October.
August 31, 2024
A construction project is underway to build six pickleball courts to the north of the existing tennis courts. The lighting and fencing for these new courts have been completed, while the concrete, shade structures, and sod are still in progress.
May 31, 2024
In April, the contractor initiated site preparation for construction and demolition is complete. The lighting system has been received and the contractor is commencing with the installation of the concrete slab for lighting.

The project was released for bid in November 2023, and Stellar Development was granted the construction contract by the Sarasota County Commissioners on March 19, 2024. The project's construction is set to commence in the summer of 2024.
