History

The Phillippi Farmhouse Market was established to celebrate and support local farmers, artisans and the Sarasota community. Over the past 13 years, under the management of Fred and Grace Whitehouse and the Friends of Sarasota County Parks, the market has grown from a modest gathering of 19 vendors to a bustling weekly event featuring over 50 vendors.

The Whitehouses retired in 2024 after overseeing this remarkable expansion, helping to make the market a popular destination for both locals and visitors eager to experience the region's bounty and craftsmanship. Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources is honored to take ownership of this popular event and pay homage to Fred and Grace.
